DATABASE USAGE

Elluminate site instances by default use McKoi - a lightweight pure Java/JDBC database.

You might want to Consider using other databases, such as SQL Server, Oracle or MySQL. These are supported by Elluminate and have JDBC bridges available.

However, Elluminate Live! also bundles JDBCScriptTool and JDBCQueryTool. Both can be used for basic SQL access to McKoi databases.

They need to be run locally on the server:

% cd /opt/ElluminateLive/manager/tomcat/webapps/<instance>/WEB-INF/

You will need to have write access to the database and log files.

The first command to try might be 'show tables'.

As always, be careful running update and delete commands on live production databases!

JDBCScript Tool

This can be used for text based queries.

% echo 'describe Meetings'|/opt/ElluminateLive/jre/bin/java -cp lib/mckoidb.jar com.mckoi.tools.JDBCScriptTool -url "jdbc:mckoi:local://./resources/db.conf" -u admin -p admin
Using JDBC Driver: com.mckoi.JDBCDriver
Connection established to: jdbc:mckoi:local://./resources/db.conf

JDBCQuery Tool

This provides a command window and is suitable for interactive use.

% /opt/ElluminateLive/jre/bin/java -cp lib/mckoidb.jar com.mckoi.tools.JDBCQueryTool -url "jdbc:mckoi:local://./resources/db.conf" -u admin -p admin

This should give you an SQL window, providing you have a X display to the server.
