SYNOPSIS

string.pl [options]

DESCRIPTION

This script will show you the differences between various formats for using strings in perl.

It is obvious from this example that the best way to write strings in perl is with single quotes and catenate them with variables which you want to put in since double quotes cause interpolation which may be slower. In any case I would not use Perl interpolation (the programmer knows where his variables are so let him state them explicitly).
