SYNOPSIS

package foo;
use Meta::Utils::String qw();
my($object)=Meta::Utils::String->new();
my($result)=$object->method();

DESCRIPTION

This module will give you various methods that you may need for handling strings. It is true that most of those have equivalent perl builtin operators or functions but these have different problems: 0. bad names. 1. weird calling conventions (not regular functions). 2. not object oriented.

Methods in this library include: 1. comparison functions. 2. transformation functions. 3. checking string which are filenames for common pitfalls.

FUNCTIONS

compare($$)
lower_case($)
has_space($)
is_alnum_u($)
check_alnum_u($)
separate($)

FUNCTION DOCUMENTATION

compare($$)

This method uses the built it cmp functions to compare two strings and return the result. You can use this function in sorting or just for regular comparisons.

lower_case($)

This method receives a string and returns the lower case version of the string.

has_space($)

This method will return true/false value according to whether the string received has a space inside it.

is_alnum_u($)

This method will return true/false value according to whether the string received is an alpha numeric string with possible underscores.

check_alnum_u($)

This method receives a string and throws an exception if the string received is not an alpha numeric string with possible underscores.

separate($)

This method receives a string in ThisForm and returns it in this_form.

BUGS

None.
